As previous post of the demo video, here, I am going to tell you something that you may need to know before you build up/purchase your vPro/AMT 6 system.
In order to fully enjoy the benefit the Intel vPro AMT 6 functionalities, the right CPU and chipset are necessary.
Now, you know that vPro/AMT 6is only available on Intel Q57 chipset, but which CPU should you choose ?

You may refer to RealVNC as they announce their test platform.
You see their list, and you may want to ask : Can I use the other CPU like i3 or i5-7×0, i5-6×1 or even better – the i7-8×0 CPU ?

To answer this question, I will need you to read this document first – List of vPro CPU on 2010.
The conclusion is, if you want to enjoy every bit of the Intel vPro AMT 6 functions, you can only purchase the i5-6×0 CPU, which includes

i5-650 / i5-660 / i5-670 / i5-680

or any laptop that states vPro and uses the CPU listing on List 2: with KVM mode.
If you have any question regarding to the KVM, check the RealVNC website for further explain and demo.

After all of this, you will need the RealVNC Viewer Plus to connect to your vPro system, I will tell you how to setup your vPro system in the next post.

Her are just some screen shot on the vPro system (BIOS level management)
Recommend to view this demo video in 720P HD Mode @ Full Screen

As we can see, Intel vPro AMT 6 has achieved the same function like Dell DRAC or HP iLo.
Users can manage their system very easily. Also, IT support is able to check the node see if the properties are safe or not.

Intel vPro AMT 6 also provides consent mode so that if this function is enabled, the remote control will be forced to input a code to get the control. The access code will show in client’s local screen which can prevent the unauthorized connection.

In some cases, the Serial-ATA (SATA) ports within the chipsets may degrade over time, potentially impacting the performance or functionality of SATA-linked devices such as hard disk drives and DVD-drives. The chipset is utilized in PCs with Intel’s latest Second Generation Intel Core processors, code-named Sandy Bridge. Intel has stopped shipment of the affected support chip from its factories. Intel has corrected the design issue, and has begun manufacturing a new version of the support chip which will resolve the issue. The Sandy Bridge microprocessor is unaffected and no other products are affected by this issue.

The company expects to begin delivering the updated version of the chipset to customers in late February and expects full volume recovery in April. Intel stands behind its products and is committed to product quality. For computer makers and other Intel customers that have bought potentially affected chipsets or systems, Intel will work with its OEM partners to accept the return of the affected chipsets, and plans to support modifications or replacements needed on motherboards or systems. The systems with the affected support chips have only been shipping since January 9th and the company believes that relatively few consumers are impacted by this issue. The only systems sold to an end customer potentially impacted are Second Generation Core i5 and Core i7 quad core based systems. Intel believes that consumers can continue to use their systems with confidence, while working with their computer manufacturer for a permanent solution. For further information consumers should contact Intel atwww.intel.com on the support page or contact their OEM manufacturer.

For the first quarter of 2011, Intel expects this issue to reduce revenue by approximately $300 million as the company discontinues production of the current version of the chipset and begins manufacturing the new version. Full-year revenue is not expected to be materially affected by the issue. Total cost to repair and replace affected materials and systems in the market is estimated to be $700 million. Since this issue affected some of the chipset units shipped and produced in the fourth quarter of 2010, the company will take a charge against cost of goods sold, which is expected to reduce the fourth quarter gross margin percentage by approximately 4 percentage points from the previously reported 67.5 percent. The company will also take a charge in the first quarter of 2011which will lower the previously communicated gross margin percentage by 2 percentage points and the full-year gross margin percentage by one percentage point.

The company also expects to complete the acquisition of McAfee by the end of the first quarter.

The company now expects first-quarter revenue to be $11.7 billion, plus or minus $400 million, compared to the previous expectation of $11.5 billion, plus or minus $400 million. Gross margin percentage is now expected to be 61 percent, plus or minus a couple percentage points, compared to the previous expectation of 64 percent, plus or minus a couple percentage points. Spending (R&D plus MG&A) is now expected to be approximately $3.6 billion, compared to the previous expectation of approximately $3.4 billion.

The full-year revenue growth percentage is now expected to be in the mid-to high teens, compared to the company’s prior expectation of approximately 10 percent. Full-year gross margin is now expected to be 63 percent, plus or minus a few percentage points, compared to the previous expectation of 65 percent, plus or minus a few percentage points. Spending (R&D plus MG&A) is now expected to be $15.7 billion, plus or minus $200 million, compared to the company’s previous expectation of $13.9 billion, plus or minus $200 million. Research and development (R&D) spending is now expected to be approximately $8.2 billion, compared to the previous forecast of $7.3 billion.

All other expectations for the first-quarter and full-year remain unchanged. With the exception of McAfee, the outlook for the first quarter and full year do not include the effect of any acquisitions, divestitures or similar transactions that may be completed after Jan. 31. The acquisition of McAfee is subject to customary closing conditions.

Many factors could affect Intel’s actual results, and variances from Intel’s current expectations regarding such factors could cause actual results to differ materially from those expressed in these forward-looking statements. Words such as “anticipates,” “expects,” “intends,” “plans,” “believes,” “seeks,” “estimates,” “may,” “will,” “should,” and their variations identify forward-looking statements. Statements that refer to or are based on projections, uncertain events or assumptions also identify forward-looking statements. Intel presently considers the following to be the important factors that could cause actual results to differ materially from the company’s expectations.

This release contains forward-looking statements and projections based upon estimates of the impact of the chipset degradation issue on Intel’s future financial and operating results, including on revenue, gross margin, and inventory valuation, based on preliminary analysis and information which is subject to change. Among the factors relating to the chipset degradation issue that could cause actual results to differ are the number of units that may be affected, the impact on systems in the market, the costs we may incur in repairing or replacing impacted components the extent to which customers purchase parts from Intel’s competitors as a result of Intel parts shortages or otherwise, and the extent to which Intel is able to increase production of substitute or redesigned parts for customers.

Among the risks related to the McAfee and Infineon AG Wireless Solutions business (Infineon WLS) transactions that could cause actual results to differ are that the closing of the McAfee acquisition may be delayed or may not occur, and that Intel may not realize the anticipated benefits of the transactions if the products, markets and business prospects of Infineon WLS and/or McAfee are not as presently anticipated by Intel. In addition, other risks associated with the acquisitions include whether Intel will retain the customer relationships and key employees of Infineon WLS and McAfee and will successfully integrate the acquired technologies or operations. Each acquisition will also involve the potential for unexpected liabilities that could become the obligations of Intel following the closing(s) of the acquisition(s).

The updated Business Outlook for Q1 2011 and full-year 2011 includes assumptions and projections related to the revenue, gross margin, spending and other financial results of Infineon WLS and McAfee. These assumption and projections are based upon financial information obtained and estimated by Intel prior to closings of the transactions and prior to the integration of those businesses with the other business operations of Intel. Future business, integration, roadmap and other operations, and financial estimates, involving Infineon WLS and McAfee and the remainder of Intel are subject to change as post-closing integration and direct ownership of Infineon WLS and McAfee proceeds. In addition, the gross margin forecast reflects preliminary valuations of assets acquired or to be acquired in the Infineon WLS and McAfee acquisitions; however the allocation of the purchase price is not yet finalized and may be adjusted as Intel completes the valuation analyses.

Demand could be different from Intel’s expectations due to factors including changes in business and economic conditions; customer acceptance of Intel’s and competitors’ products; changes in customer order patterns including order cancellations; and changes in the level of inventory at customers.

Intel operates in intensely competitive industries that are characterized by a high percentage of costs that are fixed or difficult to reduce in the short term and product demand that is highly variable and difficult to forecast. Revenue and the gross margin percentage are affected by the timing of Intel product introductions and the demand for and market acceptance of Intel’s products; actions taken by Intel’s competitors, including product offerings and introductions, marketing programs and pricing pressures and Intel’s response to such actions; and Intel’s ability to respond quickly to technological developments and to incorporate new features into its products.

The tax rate expectation is based on current tax law and current expected income. The tax rate may be affected by the jurisdictions in which profits are determined to be earned and taxed; changes in the estimates of credits, benefits and deductions; the resolution of issues arising from tax audits with various tax authorities, including payment of interest and penalties; and the ability to realize deferred tax assets.

Intel’s financial results could be affected by gains or losses from equity securities and interest and other that could vary depending on gains or losses on the sale, exchange, change in the fair value or impairments of debt and equity investments; interest rates; cash balances; and changes in fair value of derivative instruments.

The majority of Intel’s non-marketable equity investment portfolio balance is concentrated in companies in the flash memory market segment, and declines in this market segment or changes in management’s plans with respect to Intel’s investments in this market segment could result in significant impairment charges, impacting restructuring charges as well as gains/losses on equity investments and interest and other.

SANTA CLARA, Calif., Jan. 31, 2011 – As part of ongoing quality assurance, Intel Corporation has discovered a design issue in a recently released support chip, the Intel® 6 Series (and the Intel® C200 Series Chipset), and has implemented a silicon fix. In some cases, the Serial-ATA (SATA) ports within the chipsets may degrade over time, potentially impacting the performance or functionality of SATA-linked devices such as hard disk drives and DVD-drives. The chipset is utilized in PCs with Intel’s latest Second Generation Intel Core processors.

If you believe you may be affected by this issue, please contact your place of purchase, or your Intel Field Sales Representative.

Possible Cause: Some people will try to “activate” something (software like Adxbe or anything else), or in case you may modify your “HOST” file. The possible cause is that the host file may contain incorrect line which caused the [localhost] is no longer point back to 127.0.0.1.

Solution: Check your “HOST” file and see if any line is “0.0.0.0 localhost” or “anything localhost”, remove these lines, save and try to run again, and you should be fine.

Description: Fast Connect is implemented by US Robotics/3Com with their MODEM product on V.22/V.22bis. Fast Connect can reduce the connection time “dramatically”. The Fast Connect feature requires “Isfastconnect” bit and both server/client with compatible chip(Hardware) and settings(Firmware).

Unlike Fast Connect, Quick Connect is implemented by LSI (Previously Agere) Lucent, Quick Connect can be done without client compatibility. The Quick Connect can also reduce the connection time.

Reference:
Fast Connect – http://www.usr.com/support/doc-popup-template.asp?url=faqs/analog/modem-fastconnect.htm&loc=unst

Quick Connect – http://www.modemsite.com/56k/v92c.asp

Extract:
Fast Connect:
How do I enable Fast Connect?
V.22 Fast Connect allows the modem to make a 1200 bps connection much quicker than the standard V.22 handshake time, making it ideal for the very small data transfers encountered in Point of Sale or ATM systems. Note that the modem or server at the far end must also be configured for V.22 Fast Connect, and the same Error Correction ON/OFF setting.

Enabling V.22 Fast Connect
V.22 Fast Connect can be enabled by setting AT commands which may vary by product.

USR5637, USRxx5637, USR2980-OEM, and USR802981-OEM
Additional AT command strings:	AT +MS=V22	( selects V.22 connection at 1200 bps )
AT &M0	( if disabling Error Correction protocol )
AT &A0	( if shortening the result code to “CONNECT 1200” )
AT \F1	( enables V.22 Fast Connect, must be issued before each connection attempt )

—-
Quick Connect
Quick Connect – The command +PQC=# controls Quick Connect. The values are – 0 to enable Quick Connect (short phase 1 and phase 2 enabled); 1 – enable short phase 1 only; 2 – enable short phase 2 only; 3 – disable short phase 1 and phase 2.

—-

The above command will be all available on HyperTerminal direct open at COM port(COMx) instead of the driver/hardware(Agere ****).

My condition is that in case you have a DGV, you want to insert, update, delete some record and instantly refresh the DGV result/content.
Here, you will need a DataSet and with the following code,

public partial class Form1 : Form
{
        #region Form1
        private SqlDataAdapter SDA = new SqlDataAdapter();
        #endregion

        private void button1_Click(object sender, EventArgs e)
        {
            SqlConnection conn = new SqlConnection();
            SqlCommand cmmd = new SqlCommand();
            DataSet ds = new DataSet(); //
            SqlDataReader dr;
            conn.ConnectionString = "Data Source=***;Initial Catalog=***;Persist Security Info=True;User ID=***;Password=***";
            conn.Open();
            cmmd.Connection = conn;

            cmmd.CommandText = "select * from table";

            SDA.SelectCommand = cmmd;

            SDA.Fill(ds);
            dataGridView1.DataSource = ds.Tables[0].DefaultView;

        //...
        }
}

Until now, this is a good idea using large scale of LCD panel and integrate this with your car windshield.

If you type LCD Windshield, most articles are old. As the time went by, portable / foldable LCD panel is no longer far from us. Thus, we can re-exam this idea see if it’s possible to DIY.

1. A EeeBox / Thin system on your car.
2. A high-resolution/IR(Night Vision) equipped camera/webcam.
3. A Large Panel of LCD (Not necessary to cover the whole windshield, the upper and right part are the most useful location)
4. A software that will keep tracking and calculating the effect to the driver.

The theorem is quiet simple, a tracking software will focus / capture the brightness of the driver’s face / eye, and then, generate the dark block, move it accordingly and see if it helps to change the brightness on the driver’s face/eye. If it works, keep in the location. Otherwise, keep calculating and move the block to the best location to block the light.

This idea is good when sunshine/daylight. However, at night, that would be hard to implement. Especially, any change will effect the view of the driver, which may even cause dangerous situation in some conditions.
